Ballet Axis, Iceland’s newest Ballet troupe presents; ‘Meeting Pointe’, a Triple Bill.

Three world premieres by three upcoming female Icelandic choreographers exploring the multi-dimensions of ballet technique.

“Tif” by Kristín Marja Ómarsdóttir springs from a shared pulse where rhythm and movement come together to form a whole. As the pulse begins to change, new connections, forms and moments are opened.

“Grið” by Erna Jonasdottir is an original ballet that explores different dynamics within ballet, playing with the freedom within this classical dance genre. Grið tells a story about the relationship a dancer has with this demanding art form and the hard balance between finding and losing oneself in their passion. The title of the piece is inspired by the journey each dancer has to finding a place to belong.

“BAND” by Anna Gudrun Tomasdottir, explores the bonds we share with each other, sisterhood, friendship, love relationships and other connections that shape our lives. The threads intertwine, tangle, break and come undone. The work examines how we connect, hold on to each other and learn to let go. Because sometimes you have to untangle yourself from the tangle to find your own thread again.
