Ireland in Music and Film - A Free Evening at Bíó Paradís

Irish music, landscape, identity and the human voice come together in a special free evening of film at Bíó Paradís on Sunday 27 September, presented by ANÚNA, Ireland’s National Choir, during the ensemble’s first visit to Iceland - https://tix.is/event/21753/anuna-a-islandi

GOODNIGHT PINEAPPLE - Special Preview

Filmed over several years in Ireland and Iceland, Björn Rallare’s Goodnight Pineapple is a warm, funny and sometimes painful portrait of Irish composer Michael McGlynn, founder and director of ANÚNA. As his hearing gradually changes, the film explores music, family, creativity and the question of what happens when the ability at the centre of your identity begins to fail. The screening will be followed by a discussion and audience Q&A with filmmaker Björn Rallare.

ANÚNA CELTIC ORIGINS - World Cinema Premiere

The evening continues with the world cinema premiere of a newly restored, re-edited and 4K-upscaled version of ANÚNA Celtic Origins. Filmed in 2007 by Elevation and produced by Denny Young in association with Maryland Public Television and ANÚNA, the original programme was broadcast on more than 220 PBS stations across the United States and has never previously been screened outside America. Blending Irish traditional music, contemporary composition, choral sound, movement and striking visual imagery, the film captures a singular musical world and features Finnish violinist Linda Lampenius as special guest.

Presented by ANÚNA. Admission is free.
