SPOUSES

Spouses is a project by Canadian musician Joel Durksen. A graduate of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, it was there he met KRISTRÚN, who in 2023 moved together to Iceland to live on a horse-breeding farm, where he is building a recording studio in a stable. The debut album I Could Be Your Dog, is released May 22 via Kálfholt Records.

While in Liverpool he was a live member of Brad Stank. Despite a performance at SXSW 2023, he decided to walk away.

“I called myself a songwriter but I wasn’t writing many songs. I just needed to be alone for a while.”

In Iceland he went straight to the source producing and performing the first ever studio version of Vorið kemur (Vikivaki) sung by Valgeir Guðjónsson in 2024.

The first single Splinter from I Could Be Your Dog was released 27. November and received early support from The Line of Best Fit and The Yellow Button abroad and Undiraldan - RÁS2 as well as RÚV English. The second single Choke releases February 19, followed by a UK showcase in Liverpool on 20. Feb
