Kanlínudans
Kanlínudans is an energetic dance-theatre performance for children aged 4–10 and their families. The piece follows two bunnies who play, explore, and search for connection through movement and imagination.
Two rabbits; Leynir & Læða, round and about, talking and spinning. One is square, a rapid rabbit, the other a round rabbit, mellow. Sometimes it’s fun and sometimes, just a bit too much. They see and say different things, even so, they are stuck together on this stage, attempting to follow the same line. How will it go? How will they cope?
The work explores communication and behaviour, using clapping games and choreography as a form of character-creation. The rabbits lose themselves in play and must navigate the challenges that follow, addressing their boundaries. After the performance children are invited to an open dancefloor where María Kristín dj’s and the rabbits lead a party! BOING BOING BOING!
Kanlínudans is created by Bunnyverse Company, founded by Leevi Mettinen and Sóley Ólafsdóttir. Their collaboration began during a supported summer residency at Dansverkstæðið in 2023, where the piece first took shape. It premiered at Tjarnarbíó during the UNGI Festival in April 2024. Since the premiere, Kanlínudans has reached young audiences at Hof in Akureyri. The work was nominated to Gríman as “children’s performance of the year”. Bunnyverse Company is now developing a new work, stay tuned!
