Supersport! & Floni // The Composer Carousel

On Friday night at State of the Art, there will be a double event at Iðnó! The Composer Carousel at 8:00 PM and Supersport! & Floni at 9:30 PM.

The Composer Carousel springs into motion at Iðnó on October 10th at 8 PM. On board the carousel are Júlía Mogensen – cellist, Bjarni Frímann – pianist, Kit Downes – organist, Svetlana Veschagina – pianist, Ketija Riinga – flautist, and John McCowen – contrabass clarinetist. Each of them a heavyweight in their field.

The carousel works like this: each musician composes a piece for the next person in the circle, who performs it and then writes new work for the next colleague – until the loop is complete. The carousel riders hail from various backgrounds and have explored music from many angles, bringing with them an exciting and diverse musical toolkit.

Auto-tuned crooning meets guitar-driven indie rock for one night only at Iðnó, at State of the Art, music festival!

When one thinks of Floni, shimmering melodic guitars aren’t the first thing that comes to mind. On the contrary, he made a name for himself as one of the torchbearers of the Icelandic rap scene with the release of his first album in 2017. There, he combined emotional rap with hard trap beats and earned great popularity in Iceland.

The new wave band Supersport! hasn’t delved into autotune and trap rhythms to the same extent as Floni, but has established itself as one of the country's leading rock bands. The group has received various awards and toured widely across Europe with its guitar-driven indie rock. The members of the band have also been torchbearers of Iceland's grassroots scene through their work with the art collective post-dreifing.

In this unique concert, these artists join forces. Supersport! performs together with Floni, where the rapper's songs are given a brand-new sound and Floni merges with the chamber pop-infused guitar hits of Supersport!.
