At this concert, the world-renowned guitar duo Cochran & McAllister will visit Harpa and share the stage with the Icelandic guitar duo Magma.

Cochran & McAllister Duo

Scottish guitarist Matthew McAllister and American guitarist-composer Matthew Cochran enjoyed critically acclaimed solo careers well before forming a duo. After a decade of friendship and periodic collaborations, Cochran & McAllister premiered their duo project in 2023 with tours in Scotland and the U.S. The pair quickly established themselves as a significant new voice in the guitar world through unique, accessible programming and easygoing onstage rapport. The Duo's 2025-2026 season includes US, UK, and EU appearances at major festivals and concert series, including the Guitar Foundation of America, Passau International Guitar Festival, Nürtingen International Guitar Festival, Classical Guitar Retreat, and Big Guitar Weekend at Royal Conservatory of Scotland.

Magma Guitar Duo, formed by Icelandic guitarists Óskar Magnússon and Svanur Vilbergsson, is known for its expressive and engaging performances. With a shared passion for the classical guitar, the duo brings together technical skill and musical sensitivity, offering fresh interpretations of both Icelandic and international works.

Dedicated to enhancing the voice of the classical guitar in modern music, Magma Guitar Duo has closely collaborated with contemporary composers in Iceland such as Guðmundur Steinn Gunnarsson, Ari Hálfdán Aðalgeirsson, Daniele Basini and Oliver Kentish. They both perform on handcrafted instruments by renowned luthier Glenn Canin whose guitars are known for their exceptional clarity, power and qualities that complement the duos´s refined musical vision.
