„From Venice to Paris“ centres around the life and work of the baroque composer Antonia Bembo. In 1677, she left her negligent and deceitful husband in Venice and travelled to Paris, probably accompanied by the internationally acclaimed guitarist Francesco Corbetta. In France, she enjoyed the support of King Louis XIV and her opera L´Ercole amante is dedicated to the Sun King. In this programme, Ieva Sumeja and ConsorTico focus on the music of a remarkable female figure from the second half of the 17th century, while also delving into two opposite musical worlds of that era: Italy and France.

Sólveig Steinþórsdóttir, baroque violin
