The repertoire of this concert is characterized by flicker (Icel.: Flökt) and birdsong by French composers. The oldest piece on the program, Debussy's Prélude à l'Après-midi d'un faune (L. 86), known in English as Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, is one of the key works of impressionism and was said to mark a turning point in composition, but impressionism is precisely the clear inspiration for the next three generations of composers who will be performed at this concert.
