Mirrors - Trio Esja
Kristín Ýr Jónsdóttir (flutist), Guðrún Brjánsdóttir (soprano and poet) and Herdís Ágústa Linnet (pianist) in Trió Esja come together and perform pieces by the pioneers of French music. The program is inspired by French poetry.
Guðrún's original poetry intertwines with piano playing in the work Miroirs/Mirrors by Maurice Ravel, where the music reflects itself in nature and the art forms are intertwined. The concert will feature the premiere of an original piece by Swedish composer Zacharias Wolfe, written for Herdís. Les Chansons de Bilitis, for flute and piano, and Trois Chansons de Bilitis, for voice and piano, by Claude Debussy are works that both drew inspiration from the poetry of Pierre Louys, who was a dear friend of the composer. Finally, we hear the trio play together La Flute Enchantée from Shéhérazade, by Maurice Ravel.
You are warmly welcome to a concert where music meets poetry, on a mesmerizing Friday evening in the winter darkness of Kaldalón in Harpa, on Friday 20th of December at 20:00.
The project is funded by the Ýlir music fund - Harpa's music fund for young artists.
