Beisik Bitch // Nanna Gunnars
Iceland University of the Arts
Graduation Festival 2026
MA Performing Arts
------
The basic bitch. Who is she? How does she behave? What kind of conversations does she have? What’s her environment like? Does anyone take her seriously?
Is she perhaps desperately, hilariously, absurdly trying not to be basic? Or is that exactly what she wants, to be as basic as possible in order to fit in?
Nanna Gunnars has been investigating the concept “basic bitch” and will share her findings live with the audience. She digs into staging “the self” and questions the expected behaviour of women in a contemporary, Western, individualistic society like Iceland where women are free to behave however they want - aren't they?

Bio: Nanna Gunnars (she/her) is a performer and producer. She graduated with BA (Hons) in European Theatre Arts from Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance in London 2012 and has since been performing on stage, working as a voiceover artist and an event producer. Nanna is one half of the creative studio Huldufugl, which fuses theatre with new technology. Huldufugl has created performances in VR; the multi-awarded Kassinn (A Box in the Desert) and Parallel People that was performed in the National Theatre. Huldufugl recently released the first Icelandic film in VR, Fallax.
Nanna also founded the RVK Fringe Festival, and was its artistic director 2018-2022.
