From the Renaissance to Morricone, with an emphasis on new Icelandic works and nordic pop
songs along the way, brass quintet Silfurbjöllurnar offers a lively, varied, and entertaining
programme at Hannesarholt on November 12th at 8:00 PM.
A core focus of the ensemble is the premiere of new music by Icelandic composers. At this
concert, Silfurbjöllurnar will premiere Hnúfubakurinn (The Humpback Whale) by Ingibjörg Azima.
Founded in 2022, Silfurbjöllurnar has performed in a wide range of settings, including at Harpa,
for the city of Reykjavík, and in the concert series 15:15 and Á ljúfum nótum at Fríkirkjan.
The members of the quintet are Hannah O’Connor and Øyvind Lapin Larsen, trumpets, Anna
Sigurbjörnsdóttir, horn, Sigrún Kristbjörg Jónsdóttir, trombone, and Ingibjörg Azima, bass
trombone.
