IA x Gísli Gunnarsson: Úr Öskunni - Live in Grindavík - Premiere

As part of Iceland Airwaves 2026, Airwaves and Reykjavík Music City, together with By Norse Music, present a special screening of Úr Öskunni – Live in Grindavík — the 2025 concert film capturing a very special performance held in the church of the abandoned town of Grindavík.

Originally presented as part of Iceland Airwaves 2025, the concert brought music back to Grindavík, creating a moment for people connected to the town to gather in a place they had been forced to leave.

“The idea behind the concert was to create an event where the people of Grindavík could come together back home, in the church,” says Gunnarsson. “I wanted to share these songs with them — songs I had written during this shared time of loss and grief.”

The screening will be followed by a special, intimate set by Gísli Gunnarsson, marking the anniversary of the evacuation of Grindavík.
