Composer, conductor, and pianist Joe Hisaishi is one of the most renowned musicians of our time thanks to his subtle and elaborate music for orchestras and solo instruments. He has composed music for over 100 films, but it is particularly his music for the films of Studio Ghibli in Tokyo that has brought him worldwide fame. Hisaishi is a sought-after conductor and regularly performs with the world's leading symphony orchestras, and concerts featuring his music often sell out well in advance. Among the works that will be performed are a new concerto for orchestra and a suite from one of his Ghibli films.
It is a great privilege to have this world-renowned musician visit and to be able to enjoy his music for the first time performed by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
