The Iceland Symphony Orchestra's Vienna Concerts have been the orchestra's most popular concerts for years. They are a true New Year's feast, and the light and fun music that’s played there sets the tone for the new year. The programme features classic Viennese music that puts everyone in a good mood; waltzes, polkas, and lively gallops. Arias and duets from popular operettas will also be performed by two outstanding soloists. Soprano Harpa Ósk Björnsdóttir is well known to Icelanders, and she is now a permanent member of the Theatre Basel in Basel, Switzerland. Tenor Eggert Reginn Kjartansson has recently garnered attention in the Chamber Opera's productions, most recently as Don Jose in Carmen. In addition, ballroom dancers will perform, lightly and gracefully stepping into Eldborg to the rhythmic Viennese music. The Vienna Concert is always the perfect start to the new year, bringing light and warmth to the audience on the darkest of days.
