Stars are aligning in Iceland : a total solar eclipse, Björk’s exhibition in Listasafn Íslands, and Smekkleysa 40 year birthday !!

A lot to celebrate and it will culminate in a one day festival in Víðistaðatún, Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, Wednesday 12th of August.

For years we’ve been having Mánakvöld ~ dance evenings under a full moon where Björk invites friends to DJ with her. This time we gather under the total solar eclipse and dance:

The event coincides with Björk’s exhibition at the National Gallery Of Iceland where three songs are presented at the museum on a theatrical scale for the first time. Ancestress and Sorrowful Soil, composed and arranged by Björk in honour of her mother, are accompanied by a new work derived from the artist’s forthcoming album. The exhibition is presented alongside Metamorphlings, an exhibition of James Merry, Björk’s long time collaborator.

Víðistaðatún is in the western periphery of the capital area, where the 100% total eclipse will be experienced for 1m and 4s and the total duration of the eclipse will be 2 hours. See http://eclipse2026.is/ for further information.

All tickets include access to Björk’s exhibition at the National Gallery of Iceland and a pair of custom made approved solar eclipse glasses.
