BRIM-BALL í Tónabíó
The Icelandic surf band Brim is holding a ball in the newly opened Tónabíó hall.
This elegant retro hall dates back to 1962, which is the band members' favourite year, but Brim has focused on these early years of surf rock from the beginning.
It was decided to throw a fun surf ball in Tónabíó right after Easter and have it end in the spirit of the school ball in Back To The Future. “Enchantment Under The Sea”
Surf-Doom rockers Godchilla open the evening with their alluring underwater sound. Their masterpiece 'Psionic Dreams' was recently released on vinyl by Smekkleysa, which has received worldwide critical acclaim.
After that, La Dimensión takes over and lightens the mood with their guitar-driven cumbia tunes. Carlos Guarneros and his bandmates in La Dimensión have been responsible for the explosion of interest in cumbia in Iceland, through evenings at the restaurant La Poblana, in Tónabíó and the Kumbiavík festival.
The legendary surf band Brim will then finish the party with their exceptionally fun and upbeat instrumental surf-rock. Brim is formed by Bibbi Barti, Kafteinn Skeggi, Óli Raki and Danni Bít, and was prominent in the years 1995-1997. They released their album "Hafmeyjur og hanastél" by Smekkleysa in 1996 (30 years ago). Brim is known for their gooooood vibes at balls and concerts - of course their bright blue band costumes are unforgettable.
