The contemporary concert composer Eygló Höskuldsdóttir Viborg is standing at a crossroads. The world of classical music is a ruthless boss and doesn’t exactly bring in the big bucks. She has written eight pop songs to get more listeners and in the hopes of them becoming popular karaoke tracks.
In the show her alter ego, Alter Eygló, performs the songs while wondering how to make ends meet through music alone.
The audience members are taken on a trip where they will take a hard look at their own consumption of music and the work that lies behind it.
Eygló Höskuldsdóttir Viborg has a Master of Music degree in Contemporary Concert Music from New York University, and a Master of the Arts degree in Performance Art from Iceland University of the Arts. She has written for the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, JACK Quartet, Cauda Collective and Hljómeyki. She is an active member of the performance group Slembilukka and of Tóma rýmið. In her solo performances she is currently working with her alter ego, Alter Eygló, who writes and performs original karaoke music.
The performance is part of the Reykjavík Dance Festival program. The festival program can be found at https://www.reykjavikdancefestival.com/
