Urta – a sagapoem is a musical journey through the poem Seal mother by one

of Icelands most recognized contemporary poets; Gerður Kristný. The music is

written for a soprano, piano, french horn, timpani and percussion and will be

premiered on the opera festival Óperudaga 19.and 20. October at 20.00 in

Hafnarhúsið/Reykjavik art museum.

Urta – a sagapoem tells the story of a mother´s fight for survival for herself and

her children in the harsh living condition of a remote farm on the North coast

of Iceland in the beginning of the last century.
