Mansöngvar is the plural of he word mansöngur, an old Icelandic word that literally means "maiden song" but was originally used to describe a love poem addressed to a woman. This concert celebrates the release of the double LP Mansöngvar by singer-songwriter Jón Hallur Stefánsson, containing 22 love songs. These are not necessarily happy love songs, in fact most of them are somewhat sad or problematic. But who needs happy love songs, right?

Jón Hallur has been making songs and lyrics since he was a teenager. He writes melodic, sad-funny and some times a bit quirky pop songs that he has released in various formats through the years.

Mansöngvar will be released on August 8th - on vinyl and on streaming services.

And that calls for a release concert. Along with Jón Hallur, who plays the piano and sings, the performers are: Hermann Stefánsson on various stringed instruments, Bragi Ólafsson on bass, the drummer is Ólafur Björn Ólafsson and our special guest is Sólveig Alda Halldórsdóttir.

We wish our guests an entertaining evening.
