One could say that this concert is a box of French musical candy with various flavors. It begins with an overture by Louise Farrenc, whose work has been a musical discovery for many in recent years. The forbidden love of Pelléas and Mélisande has fascinated many composers, but Gabriel Fauré was the first to compose theatrical music for this famous symbolic play by Maurice Maeterlinck, shortly after it appeared on stage in 1898.

Conductor and soloist Malin Broman then plays Ravel's fiery Tzigane, a great masterpiece for violin, and leads the orchestra into Rameau's elegant Baroque Suite and Mozart's sharp, high classical Paris Symphony. Mozart composed the work in the city on the banks of the River Seigne, and at the same time firmly established himself in the musical scene of Paris.
