Carmina Burana by Carl Orff will be performed by the Söngfjelagið and Akraneskirkja Choir under the direction of Hilmar Arnar Agnarsson in Norðurljós, Harpa on May 16, 2025 at 8 PM.

Carmina Burana is one of the most performed compositions in music literature, but this concert will feature an original version for choir, two grand pianos, five percussionists, three soloists and a children's choir. A new Icelandic translation of part of the work by Hjörleifur Hjartarson will be premiered.

The number of performers in both choirs is about 120 people plus a 20-person children's choir.

Benedikt Kristjánsson sings tenor, Herdís Anna Jónasdóttir soprano, but baritone will be announced later. Instrumentalists are percussionists from the Iceland Symphony Orchestra together with pianists Helga Bryndís Magnúsdóttir and Liam Kaplan.
