Julius Windisch & Freysteinn Gíslason

Pianist and composer Julius Windisch is one of the most compelling voices on the European jazz scene. His music is driven by a search for new sonic landscapes, subtle textures, and personal expression, where improvisation and interaction lie at the heart of the music. His compositions blend lyricism, curiosity, and a distinctive artistic vision.

In this concert, Julius Windisch and double bassist/composer Freysteinn Gíslason join forces to present an evening of original music by both composers. Rooted in jazz, improvisation, and contemporary music, their work explores rich sound worlds, open musical dialogue, and collective creativity.

Joining them are two of Iceland's leading jazz musicians: saxophonist Haukur Gröndal and drummer Einar Scheving. Together, the quartet brings a shared commitment to listening, spontaneity, and musical exploration, creating performances that are both intimate and adventurous.
