ISTHISIT-THEENDISNEAR! Is it possible to defend pursuing your dreams in the middle of the apocalypse? In ‘ISTHISIT?’, Patrick Egersborg gets help from Rigoletto, Javert, Macbeth, and The Flying Dutchman to answer that question. In a desperate attempt to fulfill his dreams before the world ends, Patrick blends arias from the greatest operas with his own text in a hysterical kamikaze-style show, filled with dark humor and self-mockery. In‘ISTHISIT?’Patrick taps into our collective state of doomsday anxiety, using works like ‘Rigoletto’, ‘TheManfromLaMancha,’‘Macbeth', and ‘TheFlyingDutchman’as a mirror of our times - marked by war, polarization, and climate disasters. The performance is loosely based on Patrick’s own experience as an ambitious opera singer facing what feels like armageddon. The premiere of the production was co-produced with the Herning Opera Festival, which commissioned the piece after seeing a showcase of excerpts at the Operudagar Opera Festival in Reykjavik in 2023. The show premiered at Team Teatret in August 2024 during the Herning Opera Festival and was later performed at Kulturmødet Mors. Patrick is now looking to collaborate with venues in other European cities.REVIEWS «A trippy and wild gamble paid offbrilliantly» «Charming, humorous, and with a satirical touch on the zeitgeist» «..Patrick is an outstanding baritone and high-flying missile in his own ideas and productions»Herning Folkeblad, August 2024ReviewofthepremiereofISTHISIT?August2024HerningFolkebladBIO-PATRICKEGERSBORG(bass-baritone) Patrick Egersborg is a Norwegian opera singer and producer from Trondheim.
