About
From Hamburg, Germany, comes a quartet established by a young bass player, Henriette Thorunn. She is joined by a true veteran of jazz, Iris Kramer, as the two met at the jazz festival in Mannheim, celebrating women in jazz and featuring compositions by Iris. The subsequently founded quartet, with Jonas Oppermann piano and Jan Hauf percussion, has played concerts in Northern Germany and there are several projects ahead, including recording sessions in early 2025. Their music is indeed inspired by Iceland. Nature, culture, winds, and weather are a strong influence, since Iris lived and worked in the Westfjords some years ago and continues to visit her second home country frequently. Special guest in the concert is renowned opera singer Hlín Pétursdóttir Behrens, known for her collaborative projects in a variety of genres, who has been working with Iris since 2016.

This event is sponsored by the German Embassy in Iceland, the Icelandic Society in Hamburg and Jazzbüro Baden Württemberg.
