Pianist Andrew J. Yang performs gems from the romantic era. Programme TBA.

Deemed a "prodigy, [running] the emotional gamut from brooding introspection to manic exuberance" (San Francisco Examiner), American pianist, Andrew J. Yang, has an active international performance career across Europe, the United States, Canada, and Asia. Born and raised in California, Yang has established himself over the past few years as one of the most exciting pianists residing in Iceland since moving to Patreksfjörður, a small town in the remote Westfjords region.

Yang is the founder and artistic director of the Iceland Piano Festival and the International Westfjords Piano Festival. He has won several prizes from international piano competitions, including the top prize at the 30th International FLAME Piano Competition (Paris) and at the 5th Metropolitan International Piano Competition (New York City). Yang has also received awards from the Los Angeles Liszt Piano Competition, Thaviu-Issac Piano Competition, Heida Hermanns International Piano Competition, among others. In 2018, Yang received the "White Rose" Medal of Honor for musical excellence from the President of Finland, Sauli Niinistö. Recent performances include recitals at the Mozarthaus (Vienna), Musiikkitalo (Helsinki), Judaica Foundation in Krakow (Poland), Murphy Recital Hall (Los Angeles), Hoheikan (Japan), and performances at most of the major New York venues including Carnegie Hall , Victor Borge Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Important musical mentors include William Wellborn, Antoinette Perry, and Ruth Slenczynska. A former competitive athlete in badminton and basketball, Yang also pursued an amateur boxing career and is an MMA enthusiast. Yang is currently based in the Reykjavík area and on the piano faculty at Music School in Grafarvogur and Tónskóli Sigursvein.
