Several of their recent concerts have been recorded and broadcast by the Icelandic State Radio, and critics of Iceland’s leading newspapers have praised Barokkbandið Brák for their vivacious and meticulous performances, lavishing them with four to four and a half stars. Barokkbandið Brák was nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards for Performer of the Year in 2017 and 2018, as well as Musical Event of 2018.

French arias and court music
Barokkbandið Brák, along with bass-baritone Andri Björn Róbertsson, assemble a rollercoaster of a French feast. This performance features specially selected bravura arias and noble dance music of the French baroque era. The programme spans the whole gamut of human emotions, from euphoric exhilaration to searing tragedy that could even induce a tear or two. The ensemble will play with its renowned agility and flair and should leave no heart untouched.

Andri Björn Róbertsson has drawn international attention with his smooth bass-baritone voice. Andri recently had his premiere at the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London, during the international premiere of a new opera by Sir George Benjamin, Lessons in Love and Violence, followed by performances in Amsterdam, Hamburg and Lyon. He has performed numerous roles in opera houses such as The English National Opera and the Zürich Opera House. Andri has also received multiple awards for his singing. Lucky audiences in Iceland may also see him make his Icelandic debut as Figaro in the Icelandic Opera’s staging of The Marriage of Figaro in the fall of 2019.
