Steinunn Vala Pálsdóttir and Hanna Lizinkiewicz will perform pieces for flute and piano written by three 20th century composers of different nationalities and generations. Sonatine (1945-49) by Pierre Boulez, Að vornóttum, fjögur næturljóð (1981) by Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson and Arabesque for flute and piano (2013) by Ewa Fabianska-Jelinska but this is the first time that a piece by her is performed in Iceland. Steinunn and Hanna met in Malmö 2016 when Hanna was her accompanist while Steinunn was doing her Master’s degree. Their work on Boulez’s Sonatine for Steinunn’s graduation concert was the beginning of their fruitful collaboration. They are therefore excited to get the chance to perform it again along with pieces by two of each other’s natives Sigurbjörnsson and Fabianska-Jelinska.
