In this program of “Epic Tales” Dutch/American pianist Vincent van Gelder  will perform the world premiere of his multi movement work “Guardians of Iceland: Eylin’s Journey”.

Eylin is a little Elfin girl who is on a journey through Iceland at the very same time that the legendary Guardians of Iceland: The Dragon of the East, The Griffin of the North, the Bull of the West, and the Giant of the South, are fighting of an evil wizard who turns between a whale and a wizard while spying on Iceland for the King of Denmark to look for weak spots to invade.  Eylin becomes part of the fight.  For this particular work graphic art is created by Vincent’s 13 year old daughter Natalie, who has been a finalist in several competitions and has received high acclaim from several leading figures in the animation world. She was published in the 2018 book of Celebrating Art in the US.

Other works on this program include Maurice Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit, intended to be the most difficult piano cycle ever written.  Also several works by Franz Liszt are included.

Vincent is the winner of several competitions including the Liszt-Garisson International and the New York Artist International competitions. He has played well-reviewed concerts at several important venues in the world including Carnegie Hall.
