Scrape - electroacoustic cello music from Scandinavia

Celebrated British cellist and polymath Zoë Martlew brings you a kicking programme of music for cello and electronics from across Scandinavia.

This colourful psychiatrist’s hour (50 minutes for those of you too sane to know) of fascinating and highly contrasted music includes up front and hauntingly beautiful cello and tape pieces by Daníel Bjarnason, Juliana Hodkinson’s iconic metal meets cello noise piece “Scrape”, a delicate synth cello meditation from Norwegian cellist/ composer Tanja Orning, Denmark’s Anders Nordentoft’s highly expressive outburst “Impetuoso”, written for Zoë, an unforgettably strange pizzicato zoom on an Elvis Presley song by fellow Dane, Bent Sørensen, and discovery of fascinating microtonal prepared guitar electronica from the 70s by Norwegian Composer Bjørn Fongaard, unearthed from NOTAM (Oslo’s answer to IRCAM) archives and restored by their chief sound technician Cato Langnes especially for this world premiere performance.

This event is supported by the PULS project.
