Víkingur Ólafsson celebrates the release of his second album on Deutsche Grammophon with a grand release concert in Eldborg Hall. The new album is dedicated to the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and features a selection of Bach’s large and small keyboard works – works that display many sides of the baroque master, ranging from profound beauty to vivacity, humour and wild virtuosity.

Celebrated for his Bach interpretations by critics and audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, Víkingur will lead the audence through the works on the new album, as well as performing two of Beethoven’s most remarkable piano sonatas – the first one and the last one. These two sonatas provide the frame around Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas – works that completely reshaped the form, while also revolutionising the status of the piano as an instrument. Later this season, Víkingur will perform this programme at his German release concert as a part of the recital series at the Berlin Philharmonie.

Early last year, Víkingur’s Eldborg realease concert of his Philip Glass album was sold out well in advance. Don’t miss out on a concert where an intimate atmosphere meets the grand setting of Eldborg.
