Music from popular films, including Ben-Hur, The Bridge over the River Kwai, Gone with the Wind, Sunset Boulevard, The Monuments Men, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Superman, and Star Wars. 

This concert gives guests a glimpse of an assortment of gems from the treasure trove of Hollywood film music, and there is plenty to choose from: Ben-Hur, The Bridge over the River Kwai, Gone with the Wind, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, plus numbers from the soundtracks of Superman and Star Wars by the legendary John Williams. Conductor Richard Kaufman has worked in Hollywood for decades, conducting music for films and television shows, and has appeared with many of the United States’ leading orchestras. For 11 years, he has been highly successful as musical director of the Chicago Symphony’s film music concerts. He is also the person film stars engage to train them when their roles require that they play musical instruments. Among the actors who have benefited from his tutelage are Tom Hanks and Jack Nicholson.

This concert is part of Iceland Symphony's LA/Reykjavík-Festival, 3rd - 12th of November, where music from LA is at the center of the stage.
