The Icelandic Rockchoir is a brand new choir, with over a 40 people, that has gone different ways then is usual in choir singing. Most of the singers have a lot of experience in pop and rock performing. The result is a powerful and totally unique sound that is clearly new of its kind in Iceland and something worth looking at.

Rock songs from the 90´s by artists such as Radiohead, No Doubt, Jet black Joe, Stone Temple Pilots, Anouk, Metallica, Aerosmith ,Guns N´Roses, Queen, Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Skunk Anansie, Creed, Alanis Morissette, Ugly kid Joe, The Cranberries etc. will be on the program so it‘s certainly going to be a powerful atmosphere in Harpa this evening.

Well known musicians from Iceland will play with the choir such as Davíð Sigurgeirsson on guitars, Róbert Þórhallsson on bass, Pálmi Sigurhjartarson on keyboard, Fúsi Óttars on drums and Þorbergur Ólafsson on percussion. The conductor is Matthias V. Baldursson (Matti sax).

The choir was founded in the spring of 2015 by Matti sax and a few singers who wanted to make a different choir more designed for pop and rock singers. The outcome was Rokkkór Íslands (The Icelandic Rockchoir). The first project was to go in a studio and record a few well-chosen songs that have been released regularly in the media. The first performance of the choir was in Eldborg (Harpa) autumn 2015 on the anniversary concert of Sniglabandið. After that was no turning back and The Rockchoir of Iceland was clearly here to stay!
