Japanese Music Project - Iceland Tour

As a part of cultural events during the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iceland and Japan, the «Japanese Music Project» will be held by Office K2 in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Iceland. This performance tour is financially supported by the Japanese Agency of Cultural Affairs.

The musicians : Members of drumming group «Himiko», shinobue-flute player «Koto» and tsugaru-jamisen players «Kiki». All of them are female players and will perform Japanese music on traditional instruments. Iceland is known for giving birth to the first female president; therefore this project is perfect for the top ranked country of global gender gap index.

Music is an intensive art which has a universal language. The «Japanese Music Project» has been abroad several times presenting traditional musical instruments and creating music beyond national borders. This time will also bring a unique opportunity to experience Japanese traditional instruments.

We proudly present Japanese music on Japanese traditional instruments in order to strengthen the relations between Iceland and Japan.
