Kari Ikonen, (f. 1973), einn þekktasti jazzpíanisti Finnlands leikur einleikstónleika í Salnum. Þar mun hann nota tækni sem gerir honum kleift að leika arabíska tónstiga og micro-tónbil á píanóið er hann leikur tónsmíðar jafnt sem frjálsan spuna sem er innblásinn af Kandinsky. Ikonen hefur stúderað tónlist miðausturlanda í yfir 20 ár og er nú með hjálp tækninnar fær um að stækka orðaforða sinn og tjáningu út fyrir hefðbundna píanóstillingu. Hann gaf út diskinn "Impressions, Improvisations & Compositions" fyrr á þessu ári og einn virtasti gagnrýnandi Breta, Stuart Nicholson, gaf honum 4 stjörnur og sagði “This is an exemplary solo piano album, full of original twists…” og New York City Jazz Record sagði ”Kari Ikonen is quite an original in today’s jazz panorama” Ikonen hefur unnið til alþjóðlegra verðlauna fyrir tónsmíðar sínar og hlotið finnsku Grammy verðlaunin og hin virtu Yrjö verðlaun sem flytjandi ársins.

Renowned Finnish jazz pianist, Kari Ikonen (b. 1973), performs compositions and improvisations inspired by Kandinsky, using a special technique that allows him to play arabic scales and micro intervals on the piano. Ikonen has won several international awards for his compositions and received Finland’s Grammy awards and the Yrjö Award as the Finnish Jazz Musician of the Year.
