"A hilarious one-man comedy about death. Directed by multi award-winning John Wright.

Winner of the 2013 Mimetic Award

When Gunther finds out he hasn’t long left to live, he starts to live life to the full…

Step into the lonely world of Gunther; a single, quiet man whose best friend is a goldfish. Gunther is like any other bachelor, spending his time playing with his radio, browsing the Lonely-Hearts section in the newspaper and contemplating life. The only difference between Gunther and any other single solitary guy is that contemplating life is suddenly moved to the forefront of his priorities when he is told he only has ten days to live.

Idiosyncratic, a little ridiculous, but never trivial, Goodbye Gunther faces death head on in a delightfully human mix of physical comedy, pathos, tragedy and joy.

An affectionate and ultimately life-affirming show, Following the success of The Confetti Maker, Frank Wurzinger has once again teamed up with award-winning theatre director John Wright (Trestle, Told by an Idiot) to create this hilarious yet touching one-man physical comedy about life, death and afterlife.

“A hilarious take on impending morality… Wurzinger uses clowning’s familiar antics as a way to tackle a serious and difficult subject.” The List

“For a show to end in tragedy, it is strange, yet heartening, to leave with a sense of renewed buoyancy.” Broadway Baby"
