The
Cypriot based dance artist Evie Demetriou whose work has toured extensively
in Europe presents for the first time in Iceland two of her solo works as
part of Reykjavík Fringe Festival.
“genes and tonic” is an uplifting performance which explores the
relationship of the past and our
present identity.
Do our genes matter? Are we free to choose our own destiny?
Taking the role of a wannabe DJ the performer travels the audience from her
own memories to the present. Creating a vibrant and humorous environment she
combines movement and text, using different types of communication from
conversation to rap to music tracks.
“Challenging perceptions and social behaviour aren’t a first in Demetriou’s
work as she aims to constantly question and challenge the boundaries of life,
as well as of conventional dance.” Cyprus Mail
Don’t miss the chance to see this performance at Dansverkstæðið (Dance Atelier).
Friday and Saturday 5th and 6th July.
