Bedroom Community proudly presents a very special double-bill at Gamla Bíó on December 3; Ben Frost and Valgeir Sigurðsson live, both premiering their new visual sets. This momentous occasion will celebrate the release of their most recent albums, Valgeir’s Dissonance and Ben’s The Centre Cannot Hold,. This concert will be each artist’s first solo concert in Iceland in many years, and the first Bedroom Community event on the home turf since the label’s 10th anniversary Whale Watching Tour with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in 2016. Special supporting guests TBA.

Ben Frost’s The Centre Cannot Hold was released on September 29 by Bedroom Community/Mute. The album was recorded over ten days by Steve Albini in Chicago. The music exists not in space, but in a space; it is a document of an event, of a room, and of the composer within it. It is music that is not fully controlled and appears to be anxiously, often violently competing against its creator. An exercise in limitation and chromatic saturation, The Centre Cannot Hold is an attempt at transcribing a spectrum of glowing ultramarine into sound.

Valgeir Sigurðsson’s Dissonance came out on Bedroom Community on April 21, 2017 to great critical acclaim. History freely dilates and collapses on this Dissonance. Its three large-scale works are haunted by the old Western tradition, infused with the ethereal workings of electronics and sound manipulation. The album treads elegantly along a fine line between traditional symphonic organicism and the fissures of the faltering structures of reality. It takes forward Sigurðsson's typically expansive, panoramic writing, and elevates it to a perpetual construction and deconstruction of time and space.
