Um viðburðinn

Piano Day, an annual worldwide event founded by a group of like-minded people, takes place on the 88th day of the year – because of the number of keys on the piano. In 2023, it’s the 29th of March. Three friends from Iceland and Poland: Miro Kepinski, Sævar Jóhannson and Eðvarð Egilsson who are also acclaimed film, theatre and TV composers, are joining together to celebrate that special day, and you are invited!

The day aims to create a platform for piano-related projects to promote the development of musical dimensions and to continue sharing the centuries-old joy of playing piano. Piano Day welcomes all piano lovers — performers and listeners, young and old, amateur and professional, of any musical direction, to join in and celebrate this wonderful instrument and its music.

Miro Kepinski (PL) - a Hollywood Music in Media Awards nominated film composer, working in LA and in Poland. He has composed the soundtrack to a global phenomena film “Furioza”, one of the most watched on Netflix in 2022. In 2021 Miro has been selected for “Spot The Composer” programme at Marché du Film | Cannes Film Festival. Miro’s new special EP is coming this March to celebrate Piano Day 2023.

Sævar Jóhannson (IS) - a neo-classical composer and pianist. He just received the “You Should Have Heard This” from the Reykjavík Grapevine Music Awards 2023. He’s also composed for Theatre and TV and is currently working on a new solo piano album which will be released in August this year. The first single from that album will be released on the 29th of March to celebrate international Piano Day.

Eðvarð Egilsson (IS) - known for for his scores for the film “Quake” and television series “Líf Dafnar”, as well as the film “Smoke Sauna Sisterhood”, which has been selected for the Sundance Film Festival and will feature Eðvarð in ASCAP’s Composer Spotlight. He also has been nominated for the Harpa Nordic Film Composers Award. Eðvarð's music is characterized by his unique blend of electronic influences and classical composition techniques, creating complex and emotive narratives through his use of rhythm and sound manipulation.
