The Mario Kart Tournament Ísland 2022

This is 18+ Charity event sponsoring Vinátta í Verki! Profits of the event go to the charity.

All races will be played with Nintendo Switches on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

What's included in the tickets?

No matter which ticket you purchase you will receive:

1 Wristband

1 Beverage on arrival

Pizza buffet (vegetarian and gluten free food options available)

Happy Hour for the duration of the event on beer and 2 select cocktails

*Competitor tickets are limited. You will play in a series of qualifying rounds in a process of elimination until we find the ultimate champion.

**Supporter tickets are recommended for people who don't want to play competitively, but simply want to enjoy the evening. You will have access to play games casually, watch people competing, take part in the the charity games where you can win money/ prizes.

***Cosplayers are encouraged to experience this event, which is why the ticket is discounted. You will also be entered into the Cosplay Competition where you can win a voucher for Cosplay Iceland and possibly two tickets to Midgard 2023! It is necessary to Cosplay related to the Mario Kart Universe. For example you can Cosplay as the playable characters in Mario Kart such Zelda, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Shy Guy etc. You can also Cosplay as items/ scenery in the Mario Kart world such as The Bullet, The Blue Shell, Fire Flower, Dash Mushroom etc. Basically if you can see it when you play Mario Kart, then you can Cosplay as it at the event!

Clothing:

What should I wear if I'm not in Cosplay?

We encourage all attendees to wear tracksuits/colourful/neon clothing but it's not essential. This is Iceland's first Mario Kart event and we may have some journalists and photographers at the event. But above all wear something that you are comfortable to game in.

(If you don't want to have your photo taken at the event just let one of the staff members working or the photographers on the night)

Prizes:

Can I win anything as a Competitor?
Of course! There will be Trophies for 1st place in the Tournament as well as some runner up prizes. These will be announced closer to the event.

I have the perfect Mario Kart Themed Cosplay outfit for the event! Can I win something?
Definitely! There are prizes you can win such as a voucher from Cosplay Iceland or 2 Midgard 2023 tickets!

Can I win anything if I'm not Competing?
Yes! During the Pizza Buffet Break everyone will have the option to buy tickets and take part in some Charity games such as stand up Bingo where you can win some lovely Króna and possibly some prizes which will be announced on the evening of the Tournament.

Is there something for me to do if I'm not Competing?
Yes! We will have a dedicated area for Supporters who want to try some games on the switch and play with other supporters or people who have been knocked out the tournament. You can also cheer on your favourite Mario Karter.
