ZHdK Strings is an international string ensemble of students studying at the Zürich University of the Arts. Its founder and leader is Prof. Rudolf Koelman, former concertmaster of the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam and one of the last pupils of the legendary violinist Jascha Heifetz. The ensemble has held many concerts in Switzerland and has travelled abroad on concert tours in Italy, Turkey, South Korea and Thailand. After their successful visit to Iceland in 2017, the orchestra will return with three Icelandic soloists.
Soloists in the concert will be two members of the group, the violinists Sólveig Steinþórsdóttir and Ísak Ríkharðsson as well as pianist Þóra Kristín Gunnarsdóttir. They are all alumni of the Zürich University of the Arts.
This project is supported by Ýlir and the RANNÍS Music Fund.
