Sigríður Ósk Kristjándsdóttir mezzosoprano and Edda Erlendsdóttir bring us an evening of songs by Maurice Ravel and Reynaldo Hahn, and the premiere of a song cycle written for Sigríður Ósk by composer John Speight, called Voices in the air, to poems by Sigurður Pálsson. Two guests join the performers, flutist Emilía Rós Sigfúsdóttir and cellist Bryndís Halla Gylfadóttir.

Sigridur Ósk Kristjánsdóttir graduated from The Royal College of Music in London. She performs regularly in oratorios, Lied recitals and opera performances in Iceland and abroad and has sung over twenty opera roles, namely in Glyndebourne, English National Opera, English Touring Opera and the Icelandic Opera. Sigríður Ósk is a member of the baroque band Symphonia Angelica and performed with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra in 2017 and 2018.

Edda Erlendsdóttir is one of Iceland´s most renowned pianists and has and enjoyed an international career, living in Paris since 1973 and performing in France, Scandinavia, England, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, USA and China as well as performing in various festivals in Iceland and with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. Edda has received critical acclaim for her CDs with the works of C.P.E. Bach, Grieg, Haydn, Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Liszt, Schönberg and Berg. She now teaches at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts.

 

Tickets are kr. 3.000 and kr. 2.000 for seniors and the disabled, free for students and guests under the age of twenty. Tickets available on tix.is and at the entrance.

The concert series Klassík í Vatnsmýrinni (Classics in the moorlands) is organised in collaboration between the Icelandic Soloist Society and the Nordic House and places great emphasis on Scandinavian and international cooperation.
