November 30 at 3 pm the Reykjavík City Band and the Norwegian wind band Sagene Janitsjarkorps come together to lead us into the Advent season with jazzy songs about snow and winter fun and a cozy Christmas by the fireside along with festive marches, a classic waltz and a Disney Christmas medley in Scandinavian style.

The Reykjavík City Band (Lúðrasveit Reykjavíkur) is the oldest active wind band in Iceland, formed in 1922 by the merger of two older bands. Its headquarters are at Hljómskálinn (“the band stand”) by Tjörnin, the lake in the Reykjavík city centre. The band regularly plays concerts in Harpa, marches in parades and plays at various events in the city and elsewhere.

Sagene Janitsjarkorps (Sagene Wind Band) was founded in 1926 and is one of the biggest wind bands in Norway. It has played in many countries and won awards and regularly holds concerts and shows musicals at its concert hall in Sagene in Oslo in addition to marching on the Norwegian Constitution Day, May 17th, and other occasions.
