Two great contemporary choirs join together for a concert that no music lover should miss!

The Danish choir Vocal Line and the Icelandic choir Vocal Project are quite different from one another, but are both renowned for their high quality singing in diverse and complicated arrrangements. Both choirs focus on contemporary music, such as pop, rock and jazz.

Vocal Project is a large group of people with a shared passion for singing, mostly rhythmical music. The choir regularly sings concerts in and around Reykjavík, both with and without amplification, with or without accompaniment. The concerts have been received, and more often than not have they been sold out.

The conductor of Vocal Project is Gunnar Ben from Mývatn in Northern Iceland. He also plays the oboe, is a metalhead, and a docent for creative music communication at the Icelandic University of the Arts.

Vocal Line is a contemporary acapella choir from Aarhus, Denmark, consisting of 30 singers and conducted by Jens Johansen.

The choir dates back to 1991 and has as its stated goal and purpose to be the front runner in the development of rythmical acapella choir music nationally as well as internationally. Throughout the years, Vocal Line has continuously sought to challenge the limits for this genre and the choir is always aiming to reach an even higher musical level.

Vocal Line is able to unite soaring Nordic sounds with intensity and sincerity. This ability, combined with its detailed and experimenting arrangements, makes Vocal Line able to continuously capture the attention of and touch its audience. Another equally essential factor is the ability of the thirty skilled singers to express their individual voices and musicality while simultaneously maintaining the immaculate blend that Vocal Line is known for.

Vocal Line has achieved great recognition in the last 28 years and has also won several international choir competitions. Most recently, Vocal Line became the winner of Eurovision Choir 2019 in Göteborg, Sweden. Earlier this year, the choir received the "European Voices Award" for their contribution to choir music throughout the years. In 2010 Vocal Line performed with the world famous vocal equilibrist Bobby McFerrin in New York and in Aarhus. In 2014 the choir performed at The Roskilde Festival on stage with the legendary The Rolling Stones, and in 2015 the choir performed at a TV broadcasted concert at the foot of the "Christ The Redeemer" statue in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The broadcast reached 180 million viewers.

Vocal Line has had a certain connection to Iceland for several years. The choir has sung several songs by Icelandic artists, including Björk, Helgi Jónsson and Ásgeir Trausti. Gunnar Sigfússon is the first and only member of the choir to be from Iceland, and therefore it was time to finally give the people of Iceland an opportunity to enjoy the music of Vocal Line. In Harpa, they will be joined by Vocal Project, but they will also sing as solo acts on these occasions:
