The Nutcracker -St. Petersburg Festival Ballet

The Nutcracker is a one of the most popular ballets of the
past century. The marvelous music by Tchaikovsky brings us a Christmas
fairy tale spirit. Numerous ballet companies around the world stage this famous
ballet every year during the winter months. Both children and adults look
forward to attending a magical performance of The Nutcracker each holiday
season and Harpa is proud to present this production in collaboration with the
Iceland Symphony Orchestra and St. Petersburgh Festival Ballet.
On Christmas Eve, Maria receives a beautiful Nutcracker as a present by the
mysterious Drosselmeyer.
Things take an unexpected turn when the toys under the Christmas tree come to
life and the room is invaded by an army of uniformed mice. The Nutcracker
transforms into a Prince and leads Maria to an enchanted fairytale land.
Tchaikovsky’s music is some of the most memorable of all ballets, with a wealth
of famous melodies.
