In the song series Tonadillas, eleven songs form one piece. Like paintings in an exhibition, they give insights into moments and discoveries and form a story without perhaps telling all the history that links them together. Love, desire, beauty and jealousy.

Enrique Granados, a celebrated Spanish composer, is best known for his works that are inspired from the works of the painter Goya. The piano suite Goyescas, the opera and the Tonadillas interpret in music and lyrics the works of Goya.

It is exciting to observe how colours become music and how new stories come into existence when a story is told more than once.

The work is performed by the singer and storyteller Svanlaug Jóhannsdóttir and pianist Einar Bjartur Egilsson.

Svanlaug moved back from Spain two years ago. There Svanlaug regularly sang with a large orchestra in Talavera de la Reina. She took lessons from mezzo-soprano Alicia Nafé, who has graced most of the important stages for classical music. Svanlaug’s style mixes classical singing and folk music. www.svana.live

She completed her master's degree from LHÍ in "New-Audience-and-Innovative-Practice." She uses the instantaneous effect of music and story to break into the adventure. There she encourages the viewer to be creative and encourages personal growth.
