Elín Dröfn Jónsdóttir in Kaldalón hall
Elín Dröfn Jónsdóttir will perform in Kaldalón hall with various instrumentalists on September 29th.
About the Artist:
Elín Dröfn Jónsdóttir (IS) is a multi-skilled young musician, who, classically trained with violin as her first study, has in recent years focused on composition, whilst simultaneously studying the genre of electronic music. In addition to arranging her own compositions, she has also been responsible for all aspects of the music production side, including mixing and studio work.
Elín Dröfn will perform with various instrumentalists throughout the concert. Her inspirational and heartfelt live performances feed both the aural and visual senses, with her use of breathtaking scenic videos of Icelandic nature, shot by herself and her colleagues. Her work, Fjallasýn, is performed to a silent film of the majestic and now somewhat infamous volcano, Eyjafjallajökull. The instrumentation of string quintet, electric guitar and bass, drums, percussion, synthesizer and voice, takes us on a mystical journey, from the depths of the bowels of Iceland to the soaring peaks of the glaciers. Enveloped and enraptured, we make this journey alongside the composer.
Elín Dröfn has been awarded a grant from the music fund, Ýlir, Harpa, which supports talented young musicians by giving them the prestigious opportunity to perform in the venue of the nation´s internationally acclaimed concert hall, Harpa.
