Eldborg, Harpa Hall (2023) by Martin Liebscher will be shown in Harpa's foyer on Reykjavík Culture Night.

The works of Martin Liebscher (born 1964) combine thousands of individual photographs taken by his assistant from the stage into one gigantic composite image. The figures are not digitally manipulated. They are images of a real person in action. In his Family Pictures Liebscher always works on the basis of a specific architecture or social environment. And the titles of his works are simply the names on the sites he invades as omnipresent protagonist.

Martin Liebscher (b. 1964) is a German artist, living and working in Berlin and Frankfurt. Liebscher studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt and the Slade School of Fine Art, London, and he has since 2007 been Professor of Photography at the Offenbach University of Art and Design. His works are present in several private and public collections, including Deutsche Bank, Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt, City of Tampere, Finland, Deutsche Börse and Kunsthalle Bremen, among others.
