Meraki Trio

About
Meraki trio is Rósa Guðrún Sveinsdóttir on flute, baritone saxophone and vocals, Sara Mjöll Magnúsdóttir on piano and Þórdís Gerður Jónsdóttir on cello. In their original compositions, Meraki blend nordic influences with melodic jazz, arranged in creative ways for their unusual instrumentation. The instruments take turns assuming roles of melody, accompaniment and bass. The trios members have diverse backgrounds ranging anywhere from baroque music and classical to pop and jazz music. Drawing on their individual experience and shared passion for jazz, Meraki trio crafts a sound that is introspective, personal and eclectic, embodying the essence of their collective spirit. The trio published their first album in September of 2024 titled "Meraki trio", with 6 original songs. They will perform selections from their album as well as new material and arrangements of other songs.
