Concert series dedicated to the grassroots of Icelandic music, across musical genres.

Harpa, in cooperation with Reykjavík Music City and the broadcasting channel Rás 2, is organizing a concert series dedicated to the grassroots of Icelandic music across musical genres.

The concert series is called Upprásin, and takes place in Kaldalón music hall one Tuesday evening each month in the winter of 2024–2025. The concert series is a part of the implementation of the policy of Harpa to open doors for the grassroots and young people across genres and to increase diversity. The goal is also for music lovers to be able to easily access new Icelandic music of various kinds, directly from the grassroots of the music scene, performed in the optimal facilities of the nation’s premier concert hall.

The ticket price is 2000 isk.

Icelandic pop sensation BLOSSI captivates the audience with his characteristic use of poetic Icelandic lyrics over ethereal melodies. Tales of love, loss, and the human condition are rife within his repertoire, creating a listening experience that leaves an indelible mark on listeners. Accompanied by his dancers, BLOSSI creates an electric and visual atmosphere

Andervel is a singer-songwriter and composer who’s music has been described as earnest, heartfelt and intimate. Born in central Mexico and based in Iceland, the musician has released 2 EPs: Noche (2020) and Montenegro (2024). Andervel is an active agent of the grassroots scene in Reykjavik and his music is influenced by a strong Mexican song tradition, folk music and the Icelandic music scene. In addition to his music project, Andervel collaborates as a project manager and is also part of the Klíður choir/collective. .
