With its strong emphasis on a friendly atmosphere, comfort and closeness to the orchestra, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra’s Children's Hour is always immensely popular. The Children's Hour programmes feature light and playful music suitable even for the youngest listeners. At about thirty minutes in length, these programmes are a perfect, bite-size introduction to orchestral music and a wonderful way for children and adults to spend time together in relaxed enjoyment.
Entertaining and lively introductions between pieces open up the world of music, which includes both popular melodies and classical gems. Conductor Ragnheiður Ingunn Jóhannsdóttir is the host of this Children’s Hour and the beloved mouse of music, Maximus Musicus, is sure to make an appearance, to the delight of the the youngest members of the audience.
Admission is free and guests are welcome to bring a cushion for the little ones who prefer to sit in the front.
